What Is Botox?
Botox, or botulinum toxin, blocks the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that sends signals to muscle cells. This temporarily relaxes the muscles at the injection site.
As a cosmetic treatment, Botox can soften fine lines and wrinkles and help prevent dynamic wrinkles caused by facial movement. Because it relaxes overactive muscles, Botox may also help relieve TMJ discomfort, chronic jaw pain, and clenching.

How Does Botox Work?
Botox is injected directly into targeted muscles to temporarily reduce their ability to contract. It begins attaching to the nerve endings within several hours, although the full effects may take a few days to become noticeable.
Botox affects the motor neurons responsible for muscle movement without affecting the sensory neurons responsible for pain, temperature, and touch.
The results of Botox treatment typically last approximately three to four months. Once the effects begin to wear off, you may return to Dr. Torculas for additional treatment.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox?
Dr. Torculas may recommend Botox for therapeutic pain relief, cosmetic enhancement, or a combination of both. Your treatment will be based on your symptoms, concerns, medical history, and desired results.
A consultation is the best way to determine whether Botox is appropriate for your needs.

How Can Botox Help with Pain Relief?
Because Botox helps reduce muscle contractions, it may be used as part of trigger point therapy for patients experiencing:
- TMJ discomfort
- Chronic jaw pain
- Chronic neck pain
- Tension headaches
- Migraines
Dr. Torculas is trained to administer Botox injections at therapeutic trigger points throughout the head and neck. These treatments may help reduce muscle tension, relieve discomfort, and improve overall quality of life.

What Is Facial Balancing with Dermal Fillers?
FDA-approved dermal fillers can be used to soften wrinkles, enhance the lips, restore facial volume, and maintain a youthful, natural-looking appearance.
Many fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that attracts and retains moisture. When carefully injected into targeted areas, fillers can add volume and soften wrinkles, lines, and folds.
Our office focuses on subtle, natural-looking enhancement of areas that contribute to the overall smile profile, including the lips, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines.

Dr. Torculas will discuss expected results, maintenance recommendations, and follow-up care during your consultation.
